Aw man, I've had my blog/website for a mere month and already I'm forgetting to write! Oops. And I've just realised I never reported on my hair test results!
I got them at the end of August and was pretty shocked by what it showed.
Firstly, most importantly and the worst bit, a huge sensitivity to dairy! Oh no! An eight out of ten score for dairy products. So no ice cream or cheese. Honestly, since I've eliminated it from my diet it's the cheese I miss the most. So if you know a great cheese substitute please let me know!!
Wheat, sugar and alcohol all showed up, but I'm not particularly worried about those anymore because I've successfully reduced those in my everyday eating.
There was evidence of parasites, candida and my adrenals are pretty tired. Plus I'm sensitive to some environmental type things like detergents and perfumes, which indicates my liver isn't coping so well.
No wonder I felt a mess! My body was trying to fix all these other things without any help from me. So anyway, I've been put on a regime of supplements and supports: nine pills in the morning, seven at night, one in the middle of the day, plus a drink thing that has got to be the most revolting thing I've ever had to consume, three times a day. It's exhausting!
But I am feeling better. Apart from the loss of my cheese, I'm feeling pretty great. I'll report back later, I'm seeing my person again at the end of the month to review.
One more thing, in Gretchen Rubin's podcast, Happier, she recently discussed the idea of selecting a one word theme or focus for the year. I've decided on mine: healing. This year has been all about healing. And I'm feeling pretty great about that too. (FYI, Gretchen Rubin wrote my favourite book, The Happiness Project, plus it's follow up Happier At Home and more recently Better Than Before, about habit formation. Her stuff is fascinating!)
